Dune - From the back cover of the book

"The Notebooks of Frank Herbert's Dune" edited by Brian Herbert. Hundreds of quotes from Dune along with great color artwork and caligraphy

If you have been captured by the magical universe of Dune, this anthology will open your eyes to the extraordinary voices of its leaders.
Brian Herbert has culled from the Dune Chronicles the maxims and aphorisms that codify Frank Herbert's complex and visionary philosophy. Here are the many sayings - profound, humorous, insightful, thought provoking - of Muad'dib, Princess Irulan, Leto II, Darwi Odrade and countless other voices from the rich annals of Arrakis's 5000 year history. And thirty glorious illuminations bring the mental landscapes to life as never before. Combining irony, practicality, and mysticism, these collected thoughts explore the many layers of the ever-changing world of Dune and celebrate Frank Herbert's enduring vision."

Dune Theatre Program Book from Japan.

32 page slick paper book has color and black and white photos on every page.

When movies are released theatrically in Japan, souvenir programs are sold at the theater.
The programs are like magazines which feature color pictures as well as b&w photos, and lots of accompanying text (mostly in Japanese).
What makes these programs so unique is that they feature a lot of pics (from the film as well as publicity shots) that aren't commonly available.

Movie programs are a big collectible in Japan, and for good reason: they're QUALITY mementos
Text in Japanese.

National Lampoon's DOON

A 1984 spoof of Frank Herberts classic DUNE.

Cover artwork by Doug

Beekman. "Arruckus -- men call it Doon, the Dessert Planet. It is a sugar covered wasteland entirely devoid of entrees, patrolled by a terrifying species of giant pretzel. This savage world is the setting for an apocalyptic drama. On one side is the evil baron Vladimir Hardchargin -- ruthless, voracious, extremely fat. Opposing him: Pall Agamemnides, the teen-ager who may {or may not} be the messiah. Paul's only allies are the planet's nomadic tribes, the fiercely religious, sweatsuit-wearing Freedmenmen. These forces clash in a deadly contest over Doon's one precious resource, a substance found nowhere else in the universe: the mind-altering liquid known as beer."

David Allen. 1975 Cliffs Notes softcover 1st edition. 101 pp.

These notes present a clear discussion of the action and thought of the work under consideration and a concise interpretation of its artistic merits and its significance.
