This is the military uniform that Kyle MacLachlan wore as the character "Paul Atreides" throughout the first part of the film. The jacket is made of very dark green velvet with all of the design work either stitched on or embroidered into the jacket. This exact jacket can be matched on screen by the placement of the emblems on the chest - the bottom three rectangles are not centered under the three triangles. It looks as though the epulats were changed at a certain point during the film, because in the beginning they have one star and a large rectangle under the eagle. On this jacket, and later in the film, it has two stars under the eagle with no rectangle (see bottom 3 pictures to the left). Maybe he changed rank?

The pants are made of black cloth and have cloth ties at the bottom and suspenders attached. The belt is adjustable and has a metal hook buckle. The jacket has a label reading "PAUL", the pants have a label reading "K. MACLACHLAN", and the belt has a piece of tape labeled "26". It is extremely rare to find pieces from Dune, much less the star and main character's uniform.

This is the one of a kind ceremonial robe that Kyle MacLachlan wore as the character "Paul Atreides" in the final scene of the film. It is a very thick and heavy, weighing about 17 pounds. Since part of the film was shot in Mexico, it was hand made by local artisans.

Interesting to note is that the futuriastic characters all the way around the robe spell out names backwards. It looks like some of the cast members names were emboridered into the robe when it was made. Here is just a sampling of the many names and words around the robe's edge:

Raffaella - referring to Raffaella De Laurentiis, the producer of the movie
Judith A Miller - referring to the crew member credited as a conceptual model builder?
Bob Ringwood - the costume designer on the movie
Francesca - referring to Francesca Annis who played Lady Jessica (see this example in the picture to the left on the bottom)
David - referring to David Lynch, the director
Several other names such as Debbie, Barbara, Lourdes, Raquel, Cyril, Franco, Fernando, Teresita, Veronica, Tony, Edward, Kate, Roz, Mom, and dozens more
Many words such as gyre, toves, and brillig

Pauls Number 2 stillsuit Jacket

DUNE
Stillsuit Jacket worn by the Star
KYLE MACLACHLAN
as Paul Atreides

This is an authentic piece of wardrobe from the movie "Dune." It's a fremen stillsuit jacket worn by the star Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides.
It was purchased from Universal Studios, the studio which made the movie, through an auction. The tag from the auction is still on the zipper and a tag attached inside the garment says "KM2". I assume more than one stillsuit was made for the actor. Items from the movie "Dune" are rare and you are unlikely to see anything worn by the star again.

This item is in delicate condition. It looks good on a mannequin, as the pictures above illustrate. However, there are problems. Several details have detached from the foundation garment; the piping has disintegrated in places (note how it has gone down the front and around the neck); there are cuts in the sleeves; other pieces have split; some of the foam within has disintegrated and leaks as a fine powder.

You would NOT be able to wear this one to Halloween parties, unfortunately.

The pants in the pictures are unrelated

Dune Carryall

A Spice Harvester Carryall from the 1984 production of Dune the Movie

Spice harvester carry-all miniature from Dune. (Universal, 1984) Silver-painted fiberglass miniature, which is designed to place the spice harvesters on the surface of Arrakis, and retrieve them when in danger from sand worms or when their harvesting work is finished. Measures 35 in. wide x 11 in. tall, and mounted on a custom display stand. Additional pieces of the carry-all have broken off, but can be easily repaired. A great miniature from this timeless fantasy/science-fiction classic.

Dune Stillsuit

A Stillsuit from the 1984 production of Dune the Movie

Stillsuit from Dune. (Universal, 1984) Black bodysuit with exo-skeleton of dark brown foam "armor". In Dune lore, it was specifically designed for use on Arrakis, having a micro fabric that dissipates heat and filters bodily waste for recycling in order to preserve water. Shoulders, knees and cuffs exhibit some wear and tear.

The above items were auctioned on ebay 1/8/03
The stillsuit sold for $6000.00 and the Carryall sold for $5500.00

Measures 11 1/2 in. long.

216. Harkonnen rifle from Dune. (De Laurentiis, 1984) Harkonnen rifle constructed of molded resin with metallic black paint, and attached rubber barrel muzzle designed to reflect the sado-masochistic and dominatrix desires of the Harkonnens. This is the only Harkonnen rifle known to exist with all of the rubber muzzle and rubber tubing still intact. Measures 30 in. in length.

Opening bid $900

Estimate $1,200 - $1,500

Sold for $1200

218. Weirding Module from Dune. (De Laurentiis, 1984) An exceedingly rare and important weapon from the monumental classic Dune, based on the Frank Herbert bestsellers. This weapon was used by Paul and his followers on the planet Dune late in the film. Called a Weirding Module, this version differs slightly from the practice version used by Kyle Maclachlan early in the film. When the user would yell, his voice was amplified into deadening sound waves. Once on the planet Dune, Paul constructs this version from blueprints taken from his home planet, Atreides. The prop is constructed of maroon-painted resin with black rubber tubing and gold detailing, and measures 7 in. long by 8 1/2 in. high. This is the only one of this version known to exist. Note: an image of identical weapons (and possibly this one) appears on the cover as well as on page 40 of the 1984 book entitled The Dune Storybook. This is quite literally an opportunity to own the prop weapon that saved the Atreides empire!

Opening bid $1800

 Estimate $2,500 - $3,500

Sold for $3000

217. Atreides rifle from Dune. (De Laurentiis, 1984) This extremely rare Atreides rifle is constructed of wood, rubber tubing, and molded resin with metallic detailing. It was used by the Palace Guards on Atreides, and is the only example known to exist which is completely intact. Measures 33 in. in length. In excellent condition, this is the finest example of the three still known to exist. Note: an image of identical weapons (and possibly this one) appears on page 11 of the 1984 book entitled The Dune Storybook.

Opening Price $900

Estimate $1,000 - $1,500

Sold for $900

215 . Beast Rabban Harkonnen pistol from Dune. This pistol was used by The Beast Rabban, as well as other Harkonnens in the film. Although we only see the pistol holstered in the film, the pistol has a retractable barrel and is made of molded resin and is the only one known to exist (as is the case with most of the styles of guns from Dune - it is thought that one of each of the props was kept and then the rest were destroyed by the production company, which was based in North Carolina). Measures 10 in. in length.

Estimate $1,000 - $1,500

Sold for $2000
